Their third effort, Vices & Virtues, was released on March 18, 2011, and peaked at number 7 in the US. Odd., was released on March 21, 2008, entering the US chart at, and peaking at, number 2.

They recorded their first demos while they were in high school. It was originally a pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004 by childhood friends Urie, Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, and Brent Wilson.
