"Years later I was thinking about the day of the collapse, that near death experience and how it really defined the lives of a lot of people. on the last day of the expedition we have a freak storm that came across the area and flooded the cave entrance and it collapsed and trapped 15 of us below ground for nearly two days before we were able to get out safely," Andrew told ABC Radio.

The story focuses on a near-death experience where Andrew and 12 others were trapped while cave diving following a freak storm on the Nullarbor Plain in 1988. For his latest project, he teamed up with James Cameron, the creator of blockbuster titles Titanic and Avatar. The movie is the brainchild of farmer and cave diver, Andrew Wight, who became familiar with the local caves while growing up in the Western Victorian town of Harrow.Īndrew has produced more than 45 films, documentaries, tv specials and 3D movies. The Australian film Sanctum 3D opens on Thursday and despite it being much publicised as a film shot in Queensland, Limestone Coast viewers may notice some familiar scenes.
